Daniel Goldberg 'In One Voice'
We chat to Daniel Goldberg, the forzitser (chairperson) of SKIF, about 'In One Voice' 2015.
What is IOV?
In One Voice is the Jewish Culture Street Festival that will return to Melbourne after more than a decade. It is an event that celebrates the diverse and truly amazing Jewish community here in Melbourne. The festival will include four sections: The Street Concert - Jewish bands, performers, choirs, musical and dancing groups perform songs in English, Yiddish and Hebrew for all to enjoy!; With One Aim - the community groups showcase which shows off the true diversity of Jewish Melbourne, with schools, youth groups, support groups, sports teams and plenty more taking part; Food Market - 7 food vendors will be satisfying your hunger with felafel, pontchkes, coffee and more and finally; the Carnival - there will be rides for those young (and young at heart) to have fun on for the duration of the festival!
Why does SKIF co-present IOV?
In One Voice is the practical expression of all our core ideologies: Chavershaft, Yiddishkayt but specifically Doikayt, that is, the strengthening of the Jewish community where you live right here and right now. We love to see Melbourne’s Jewish community buzzing and we couldn’t be happier that, after ten years, In One Voice is back and bringing together Jews from all walks of life.
What can people expect when they come to the festival?
A vibrant Jewish community enjoying each others company and celebrating the unique Jewish community in which we live, with plenty of nash, fun and excitement to go with it!
